KDLM partner John Cagney is a dedicated New York medical malpractice attorney and thoughtful client advocate who shows understanding and compassion when working with individuals and families who are navigating the most difficult situations.
An experienced lawyer, John specializes in cases involving medical malpractice and wrongful death including birth injuries, surgical errors, failure to diagnose, medication or nursing errors, cerebral palsy, and negligence.
He takes pride in his work ethic and strives for excellence not only in the courtroom but also as a human being with the goal of building positive working relationships with clients starting from their case evaluation through deposition and the successful conclusion of their case.
John served as Tom Moore’s trial assistant for six years before graduating from Fordham University School of Law and beginning practice with KDLM in 2009. During that time John gained valuable experience participating in all areas of a case from the beginning stages through litigation, trial, and settlements, preparing him to join KDLM as an attorney.
He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association and is licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. John has been recognized by Super Lawyers, selected to their Rising Stars list from 2018 to 2020, and more recently was selected to the Super Lawyers list in 2021. An advocate for education, he serves on the Board of Trustees at Dominican Academy in New York.
