New York Personal Injury Victims Over the past 60 years, our New York personal injury lawyers have helped victims of medical malpractice, negligence, wrongful death, and personal injury rebuild their lives following devastating negligence and injury. Along the way, our significant victories have set records in the area of plaintiffs’ litigation.New York Personal Injury Victims

Senior partner Thomas Moore, who has obtained more than 90 jury verdicts over his career, is believed to have won more jury verdicts in excess of $1 million than any other lawyer in American history. And KDLM’s other senior partner, Judith Livingston, is thought to have obtained more jury verdicts than any other female litigator in the country, with more than 30 jury verdicts in excess of $1 million.

“We bring a thorough selective approach to the litigation process, where no stone goes unturned in our pursuit of justice,” says Livingston of the firm’s success. “We see every case as an opportunity to ensure the court system works and people are provided with the resources they need to put their lives back together.”

In total, KDLM has achieved more than $1 billion in recoveries, thanks to record results like a 2014 jury award of $172 million in a case where a 29-year-old woman was left paralyzed and mute due to the negligence of the EMTs who responded to her mother’s 911 call. It was one of the largest verdicts ever awarded in New York state and one of the largest in the United States for that year.

Given this history at trial, Livingston and Moore are both members of the Inner Circle of Advocates-an elite group of the top 100 trial attorneys in the country-and Livingstone is the first woman and youngest person ever invited to join the prestigious group. They are also regularly included in The Best Lawyers in America© along with partner Matthew Gaier and managing partner Carmine A. Rubino. Both Livingston and Moore have been named as a Best Lawyer® New York City “Lawyer of the Year” in previous years for medical malpractice law in 2011 and 2013 and plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation in 2012, respectively.

Beyond winning money for their clients, our firm’s attorneys are very active in achieving fair and just laws for personal injury victims (a famous Moore trial resulted in the Libby Law legislation, which regulates hospital practices to prevent negligence caused by fatigue). The firm also participates in a number of charities, including the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, for which Livingston previously served as co-president. And both Moore and Livingstone remain actively involved at their respective alma maters, Fordham Law School and Hofstra Law School.

“The lawyers here have a great deal of compassion for what our clients have been through. The types of cases we handle may differ, but all our clients have one thing in common: the need to find justice after suffering debilitating injury and loss.”
